Dear Deanna:
My children and I are very excited about the American idol concert coming to Texas this September.
I have a special son Matthew, age 9, who is handicapped with cerebral palsy. He also happens to be completely in love with everyone from American Idol. I recorded the last four episodes of the show, and he watches them over and over again. I only wish I had taped the whole season. He knows all the songs by heart, and still says “Who are you gonna vote for?” even though we both know that Taylor Hicks won.
As I am sure you can understand, Matthew’s ability to participate in activities that other children enjoy is limited. I am thankful whenever I see him delight in something as much as he does when he watches American Idol. When Mathew becomes this enthused, I like to give my full endorsement.
I am wondering if you can grant us a special favor. I have recently purchased two front row tickets at the Reliant Center in Houston. Would it be possible to obtain Meet and Greet passes for one of the performances so that Matthew can meet and have a photo taken with the American Idol singers he so idolizes?
Matthew would be excited beyond words if you could grant this wish. It would be the thrill of a lifetime for him — and for me, as well, to see his reaction.
